"The reason for this book is threefold", writes the author. The first is that now and again he finds something good that works for him. Sometimes it is just a small thing like years ago while he was doing the Chinese Sticks; someone contributed a routine to 'Abracadabra' the English weekly magazine. They used a Fez (hat) with a tassel for the conclusion. They described how they pulled the tassel and both the tassels on the Chinese Sticks went up. It didn't suit his personality to wear a Fez, so he muddled over the idea for ages eventually coming up with the idea of having a tassel in the handkerchief pocket of his suit and pulling that out as a climax. Now there is nothing great about this idea and no-one will claim the Chinese sticks as being original (or will they), but, it was an idea that worked for him. So it could work for someone else, which is a good enough reason to record it.

The second reason is everyone likes to think they have originated something in magic and in writing this he admits that he can lie through his teeth and say, "This is part of my contribution to magic". Besides if anyone can find just something they can use then it has been worth while. It never ceases to amaze him that people write up tricks for magazines which have been around for years and while not necessarily claiming it as their invention don't put any disclaimer. So Graham starts by setting the record straight. He does not claim to have invented any of the tricks contained in this book.

Everything in this book uses basic magic principles, in some cases he has applied them to come up with a new version of a trick or in several cases just an idea to use with a trick.

The third reason is Graham wrote the book is he wants the money. Well he doesn't really but he has always wanted to say that in writing. You'll have fun with this little booklet.
