This is similar to the popular Pom-Pom Stick, using different colored cords, making the effect more puzzling. The performer displays a stick, with two different colored cords running through them with a bead at one end and a tassel at the opposite end of each cord.

He pulls the beads up, and shows the two cords run freely through the holes on either side. Then magically the cords become "linked", so that when the red bead is pulled up, the green tassel gets pulled in and when the green tassel is pulled down the red tassel is pulled up, and so on, and on, as often as you wish. Finally the two cords are shown to be single and independent once again.
