The magician displays an empty juice glass as he asks several spectators to empty the change from their pockets. As the spectators do this, the magician asks another spectator to hold onto a folded piece of paper. When around a dozen or so coins have been placed on the table, the magician points out that they are all of different value each containing a different date. The magician scoops up the change and places it in the empty juice glass asking a spectator to hold onto it.

The magician explains that through a simple process of elimination, he wants the spectator to end up with only one coin in the glass. The method for doing this, he explains, is to shake up the coins in the glass and pour them on the table. The magician instructs that all of the coins that are tails side up discard. Continue the process until only one coin remains. When there is only one coin left, the magician asks the spectator to read the date of the coin out loud. The magician then asks the spectator who is holding the piece of paper to unfold it revealing that the date on the coin matches a date written on the piece of paper!
