The performer shows a guillotine-type frame, comprising of a stand, and a blade fixed in a wooden framework. The blade extends out from the sides of the frame so it is in view at all times. There are two sets of holes in the frame; a large keyhole shaped cutout in the middle, and a smaller set of three holes at the bottom. The frame may be opened to remove the blade.

Initially the performer places a vegetable like a potato or a carrot in the two holes, and brings the blade down, cutting the vegetables in half. Subsequently, he places his or a spectator’s hand in the top hole, and a carrot in the bottom hole.  The blade is again brought down, and it passes through the hand and cuts the carrot in half. The effect is an excellent one, and can be used for either a serious, or a comedy presentation.
