This effect, introduced by Harry Stanley of England, utilizing the principle of the Tarbell Color Change Handkerchief is undoubtedly one of the funniest and amazing gags ever invented. The audience is left laughing and completely bewildered.
A silk handkerchief printed with dozens of large white polka dots is shown. The magician, comedian, M.C. or clown passes his hand over it and all the white polka dots vanish leaving a solid color handkerchief. But that's not all! When the magician opens up his hand, which he just passed over the handkerchief, dozens of white polka dots flutter to the floor.

The
Mirror Box is one of the most popular production props for Magicians, because of
its ease of use and the very large load capacity. You can even produce small
livestock from this. This folding model packs flat for convenience, yet takes
less than two minutes to set up.
If
you use compressible Magician’s production items like rubber or foam props,
the total production could probably fill up an entire stage. In performance the
box rests on your table. Have the box facing the audience and open the door on
top then the door in front. The audience sees an apparently empty box with an
open front and top. Many magicians insert both hands into the box to show it
empty. You then start your production through the top opening.
At any time during the production the box can be closed, reopened to show
that it is empty. It can be closed
again and you can continue producing items. An animal can be either produced or
vanished with this box.

The
performer shows a guillotine-type frame, comprising of a stand, and a blade
fixed in a wooden framework. The
blade extends out from the sides of the frame so it is in view at all times. There are two sets of holes in the frame; a large keyhole
shaped cutout in the middle, and a smaller set of three holes at the bottom.
The frame may be opened to remove the blade.
Initially
the performer places a vegetable like a potato or a carrot in the two holes, and
brings the blade down, cutting the vegetables in half.
Subsequently, he places his or a spectator’s hand in the top hole, and
a carrot in the bottom hole. The
blade is again brought down, and it passes through the hand and cuts the carrot
in half. The effect is an excellent
one, and can be used for either a serious, or a comedy presentation.
This effect is a model of Jack Hughes' popular sucker effect The Lady Vanishes. The performer offers to teach his audience how to vanish a Lady. He displays a draped tray, a picture of a Lady, (a Jumbo Queen) and two flat boards to "screen" the Lady. He now turns his back to the audience, and performs the effect for an imaginary audience in front of him, while the real audience has a backstage view of the working.
The two boards are placed on the tray. The Lady Card is displayed, and dropped between the two boards. The Boards are then removed, and freely displayed on both sides, to show the Lady has vanished. The real audience, however, have seen how the effect is accomplished, because they have seen the Lady Card drop through a slot in the tray into ribbon loops under the tray. However the Lady is not visible from the front, being concealed by the drape.
After some remarks to the effect that when performed with a real Lady one would require a much larger trap on the stage than the slot in the tray, and a bigger ribbon cradle, the performer offers to repeat the effect, this time with the real audience to the front.
The two boards are again placed on the tray, and the Lady dropped between them. The boards are removed and freely displayed on both sides. The Lady has vanished. The performer explains that there may be a few wise people in the audience who may figure out that the Lady is behind the drape. As he says this, he turns the tray around, so that the audience sees the back of the Lady card hanging in the ribbon harness behind the drape.
If this happens, the performer continues, he has no recourse, except to use some "real magic". The tray is turned, drape side again facing audience. The performer gestures dramatically to make the Lady vanish, then peels away the drape to show the Lady has indeed vanished. Both the drape and tray are freely shown all sides, with no trace of the Lady.
