After one of our carpenters saw a performance by David Copperfield he asked me, "How much would one of those DUCK BUCKETS cost?" When I told him the price he clutched his heart and said, "I'll bet you that I can build one of them dang things cheaper!" I said, "Look, there is a lot of work and material in that effect but why not give it a try."
About two weeks later, not to my surprise because this guy has 'hands of gold', he walked in to show me his version of the DUCK BUCKET. It was GORGEOUS. It measured about thirteen inches high by about fifteen inches in diameter and it was octagon shaped. It is beautifully finished with a high gloss and is trimmed in brass.
Just in case you don't know what effect you do with a DUCK BUCKET, let me list a few:
1: A duck or small animal can be made to vanish by placing into the bucket and then showing it empty.
2: A duck or small animal can be made to appear after showing the bucket empty.
3: One animal can be changed to another.
4: A group of silks can be made to change into a small animal. Of course many elaborate routines can be performed with this versatile effect.

CIRCUS WAGON LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION

performer reaches into thin air, and produces a beautiful multicolored fan.
After showing the fan freely, he apparently splits the fan into two, so

APPEARING BIRD CAGE (INDIA) 20"
The appearing cage is a special mechanical cage which can be produced with live birds, from a body load, or foulard etc. It collapses into a cylindrical form, about 4" in diameter, yet when produced forms a rigid cage, complete with perch and one or more live birds.
