ENCHANTED DRUM by HERB MORRISSEY
A metal cylinder approximately 4 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 3/4 inches in depth is shown empty. Two metal bands are used to secure tissue paper in place to form a drum - AN ENCHANTED DRUM. The Enchanted Drum is then placed on a metal base. The tissue is broken and the magician reaches inside the empty drum and produces a large quantity of silk scarves.
This is virtually one of the easiest production items that we have seen, which is not a large box that depends on black art. The secret is self contained in the Enchanted Drum. It is large enough to be seen for a cabaret show and petite enough that the audience will wonder how the scarves are produced from such a seemingly empty device.

The original effect was, like Harbin's other brainstorms, a clever piece of apparatus magic. With the intricate construction involved, we felt the box could be made more versatile, and incorporated some features into it. You can now use the same box to produce a number of silks, after showing it empty, or vanish some silks. You can use it to exchange silks, placing say three different colored silks into the box, and having them emerge as a large multi-colored Blendo. Once you familiarize yourself with the "secrets" built into the box, you will find it useful for much more than the original knotted silk effect.
The apparatus supplied by us comprises of the special box, three different colored "silks" (made from a stronger synthetic material for the Harbin effect), a long "needle" with ribbon (specially gimmicked), and three diagonally cut knotted silks with rings of varying diameters in the knots.

The effect includes the box, stand and table top. All are attached together, and is deceptively made so as to be able to place parts of the dove into the stand and table top.
On the magician's table rests a small long box made of three sections. The left/right sections are movable and the center section is stationary. The box appears to be large enough to hold only one dove! The Magician opens the door and places a dove inside. Both left and right sections of the box are pushed into the middle, compressing the box to a small cube! Now 5 silver spikes are driven through the little cube...the dove has apparently vanished! All is reversed and the dove is produced, none the worse for wear.

This is a version of the classic Bowl Vanish effect, working differently to the traditional method. No draped tray is used, making for a very clean vanish. In the effect the performer displays a large bowl resting on a tray. The bowl is filled with water, covered by a large foulard and carried to the front of stage. The foulard is whipped away by one corner, and the bowl with the water inside vanishes into thin air. The tray is a slim one, which could not possibly conceal anything.
We supply you with a special gimmicked stainless steel bowl, which will not tarnish and a painted gimmicked tray and gimmicked foulard. It is very easy to do because of the mechanics of the apparatus. Any liquid can be used and the spectators actually see the water being poured into the bowl.
