ROPE MAGIC
CROWS AND ROPES by BILL LONG
Three silks, which represent three crows, are tied onto two ropes, which represent a birdcage. At the magician's command, the silks fly off the ropes and escape the birdcage.
You are supplied with three different-colored silks and an ingeniously gimmicked rope. This is a great trick to incorporate into any magic performance.

The magician displays a piece of rope about 30" long. Rope is coiled over the magician's hand to prove it is just an ordinary rope. The magician now stretches the rope between his two hands, horizontally, and pretends to hypnotize the rope. One hand is now released, and the rope stands rigid like a stick. The magician merely blows on the rope and it falls down limp once again.
The rope may be used as a comedy prop with another trick or as an effect by itself. The rope may be made to stand horizontally, or in a near vertical position. You may call up two spectators and ask each of them to blow on the rope held between your hands in turn. When one spectator blows, the rope falls limp, and when the other spectator blows, the rope remain erect. The rope may also be held at the canter when it is stiff.
Most magicians will have probably seen a presentation of the effect, ranging from mildly funny to outrageously naughty. We will leave the exact presentation to your taste and discretion.

This is the perfect starter for beginner magicians or clowns who want to add some rope magic to their act.

The rope gimmick used in this effect has been used by magicians for many years. What makes this an outstanding version of this trick is that no special illusions or elaborate boxes are used. The audience is aware of only a piece of rope. In the effect, two spectators are called on stage and a long piece of rope is introduced and one end given to each spectator. They are instructed to give a tug on the rope to prove it is solid. As the rope is being held by the spectators the magician stands between the two assistants with his back to the rope. He then takes hold of the rope on each side of his body and with one quick motion passes the rope right through his body.
This is a visual effect and the assistants on stage and the audience will be equally amazed. It is very easy to do and you will learn in just a few minutes.

This is Daryl's personal routine for Pavel's 'Fantastic Knot' effect.
Two lengths of rope, one white and one red, are freely displayed. A knot is tied
into the white piece and both ropes are twirled together. When the ropes are
unwound, the white knot has jumped onto the red rope!
The knot then slides off the red rope and can be shown fairly before you visibly throw it back on. For a mind-boggling finish, the knot 'dissolves' in front of their eyes and now proves to be a white section on the red rope! You finish clean and everything can be handed out for examination.
This routine allows for both comedy and great magic. The ropes are
beautifully made and finished and can be washed to keep them looking great.
