MENTALISM
In this effect by Larry Becker And Lee Earle the performer hands four authentic menus from different Chinese restaurants to a participant, informing, "We're going to take a virtual tour among these dining establishments, sampling selections from each place until we've ordered a four-course meal: an appetizer, main dish, side dish, and dessert. Note that each restaurant has a wide variety of selections and all at different prices, yes?" The participant agrees.
"You will be the host for our culinary caper," explains the Mentalist, "so hand three of those menus to folks you will invite to join you. And this, (placing a letter-size card in full view) is our gift certificate for the expenses, tax and tip included."
Once the menus are distributed, the 'host' is instructed, "As our gastronomical guide, you may choose a dish from any course on the menu - we don't have to go in order. Which course shall it be? ("A side dish")"
The performer takes out a pad and marking pen and, after inquiring which item is being ordered, writes it down and asks, "How much is it?" The amount is openly written down on the pad.
All of the others each choose a different course and item from their menus with each name and price duly recorded in a column on the pad. "I'm certain that each of you will agree," reminds the Mentalist, "that if you had chosen a different course, the selection ordered would have varied and the price would not be the same, correct?" All the participants agree.
"Let's determine the total bill," suggests the performer, holding the pad in full view as he adds the price of each freely selected item. "It appears the dinner will cost $23.45. Not bad for a party of four. Let's see how much of that amount the gift certificate covers."
The gift certificate is turned around and is seen to be printed with the amount $23.45!

FOLD #2: Everyone is still freaking out over the appearance of the Ace of Diamonds shape when the magician suggests, "Let's try it again." This time someone only PEEKS at a card (it’s the Two of Hearts) and holds the pack in their own hands. Once again the performer asks the spectator to concentrate on the card they have in mind and focus on the front of the black t-shirt. And again, with just a single quick fold of the shirt TWO LARGE HEARTS appear!
Now everyone REALLY loses it!
THE TAG: A card is selected and the magician says, "If I don't find your card, I'll give you the shirt off my back, okay? Don't get too excited ladies. And just so you know, the shirt is 100% cotton, not polyester, so it's quite a prize." But when the magician executes a fancy flourish and turns over the top card, it's NOT the selected card. He tries again, but again fails to find the card the spectator has in mind. "Well, I DID say if I failed to find your card I'd give you the shirt off my back. And like I said, it's 100% cotton. Just take a look at the label." The performer rolls back the collar of the shirt and pulls out the tag and everyone sees a large image of the selected card PRINTED ON THE LABEL!
THE DATE: The date of a borrowed coin magically appears on the front of the shirt!
Or you can have four cards selected and they turn out to be an Ace, a 9, an 8 and a 6…all perfectly matching the 1986 date ON THE FRONT OF THE SHIRT!
THE NUMBER PREDICTION: The wonder worker admits to having "some psychic abilities" and suggests a test. He asks a spectator to think of ANY 3-digit number and write it down on a business card or cocktail napkin. (And it really is a free choice!) The performer turns his back on the audience to make sure he can't 'get a peek' and instructs the spectator to carry out a few simple calculations with the freely selected number. When the spectator arrives at a final total everybody suddenly notices that the exact same number is PRINTED ON THE BACK OF THE MAGICIAN’S T-SHIRT!

MENTAL FRISBEE is simple to understand and there are no “moves” or sleight of hand. The method is based on clever principles combined with being WAAAAY ahead of the audience. This is NOT a routine based on suggestion or NLP. This is a strong routine that will always work and always conclude successfully with a strong punch.
Here is the effect as seen by the audience...
Five frisbees are tossed out into the audience. Whoever catches a Frisbee is asked to join the performer on stage. The performer explains that the people who caught the Frisbees may seem random, but are in fact not. Adding to that he explains that certain people “attract” particular colors. The “law of attraction” if you will.
As each person approaches the stage the performer gives a hilarious comedy reading to them regarding their color.
As a finale the performer explains he will test an audience member to see if they can read the performer’s mind.
A sixth volunteer is asked to try and read the performer’s mind and “receive” the thought of color the performer is trying to send him mentally.
After a little humorous banter the volunteer finally announces the color that has popped into his mind. To the complete astonishment of the audience the performer proceeds to show that indeed the volunteer is correct in his “hunch”.
It looks like this…..
The performer tells the volunteer to “blurt out the color that pops into their mind when I snap my fingers”. They say “green” for example, and then the performer announces “that’s exactly right!” and it gets a huge laugh. Then the performer proceeds to show proof that was the target color via a great reveal that is NOT just pulling a piece of paper out your pocket that says “green”.
The five different colors are represented by the frisbees the spectator’s hold as “Human Visual Aids” if you will. The spectators can also be used in a dramatic way to help with the final revelation.
The volunteers are then used for a very strong follow up effect where each one of their thoughts are revealed. This effect is taught as a bonus routine in the manual.

Then ask him to speak it out loud so that everybody can hear him (of course you can invite him, to change his mind as often as he chooses to). On the note is written the number 4.
