Ray Piatt's thinking is easy and the 'Night Writer' that we are offering here illustrates this perfectly. A prediction that is clean and direct. No forcing of specific words, no stooges, really easy to do! “Slates” may be old fashion – BUT – there is always room for a chalkboard that writes even better than a slate, with a piece of white chalk. It measures 1/4-inches thick by 6-inches by 9-inches. The slate cleans off very easily with just a cloth. Performance is quite easily accomplished with no awkward moves, etc. Plays for both large and small gatherings plus it fits in any magician's/psychic’s act.
In the effect four different spectators call out five items and you openly write them upon the board with white chalk. The magician marks one of them and places the chalk in his pocket. Someone is now called upon to think and concentrate on one of the four items written on the board. Upon doing so she calls aloud the word she has been concentrating on and the mentalist turns the writing side of the chalkboard to show that he has also been concentrating on the same word as it is the exact word that he has already check marked with white chalk!
What makes this chalkboard so fitting is that everything on the face of it is exactly as it should be thus the mystery is complete with others thinking and or saying, “How did he know that?” and not, “How did he do that?”
The description does not do the real life impact of this miracle any justice. The chalk board can be wiped clean and then immediately repeated with five different audience members and five new words (the number of spectators or words is arbitrary). Instead of words symbols or numbers can be used. There are no nail-writers or any other secret writing devices hidden in your hand. A normally skilled magician can perform this trick; even the magic beginner will have no problems to bring this feat to life!

Imagine tossing a book into the audience. Five different spectators turn to five different pages in the book. There are no page forces. Each spectator is asked to read a paragraph from the top of the page or the bottom of the page. They are to read this silently to themselves. You begin to concentrate and without ever touching the book you are able to tell each spectator what they are thinking. Sound impossible? This is just the beginning!
The Tossed Out Book is based in theory on David Hoy's Tossed Out Deck. The Tossed Out Deck is a fantastic effect, but now for the first time the same principle used is available in book form!

Summon the power of the rain gods and change the lives of everyone you meet. In this effect by Peter Loughran the performer gathers several spectators in a circle of chant, and begins to tell a story of ancient mythology surrounding the Mayan Rain Gods of the past. Engulfing the spectators in world beyond their imagination, the performer brings forth a sacred piece of cloth. The cloth is then unraveled to reveal an ancient artifact stolen from a British museum known as a Rain Stone. By chanting the words Rainmaker 3 times, the Rain Stone was used to summon the great Mayan Rain Gods, such as one known as Chac. By summoning the Rain Gods, ancient civilization was able to save their crops from drought by causing it to mysteriously rain upon their fields.
The performer holds out the ancient stone in his out stretched hands and invites everyone in the circle to touch and keep their fingers on the ancient artifact. Asking everyone to concentrate on the Rain Stone, the performer leads the spectators in an eerie chant, first chanting the name of the Rain God "Chac", then following with the words "Rainmaker" 3 times.
Suddenly the unimaginable begins to happen; raindrops begin to fall from high in the sky, down upon the circle of spectators. As your spectators look up, droplets of water land randomly upon their face and body. The chant is broken, and the rain stops, changing the lives of everyone in the circle.

Welcome to the first volume in what is planned to be a three volume set of specialty force books/book tests. It combines various elements of things that have gone before in a way that has not been done before.
There are two basic effects possible with this book.
The book itself, a normal looking novel, can be forced from a stack of others, or you can order several and recover them (We will be releasing other versions and titles with the SAME force pages and phrases at a later date) If you wish to use the Chuck Hickock Subtlety this is also a good book to include.
Effect One: A Vision!
The performer invites a spectator to "freely" select a book from several. They leaf through the book and note how many pages it has. Nest, five spectators are asked to jot any number from 1- 400, the number of pages in this book, on a note pad. Those page numbers are handed to the spectator with the book, who is asked to SILENTLY, mentally, open to any of those pages, and silently read the top line or two of the text on that page, starting with the very first word. The performer gets an impression and draws a picture of that. When the first line is read, it is found to match the prediction! This can be repeated if desired, or done with several different spectators.
This effect is similar to Max Maven’s Autome, but uses a different book and offers 6 different force phrases, rather than one. (Note, we offer a different procedure than Autome to make this work, and we suggest you invest in Max maven’s DVD to find out the clean elegant method HE uses- along with the original book used.) The original natural force book used for Autome, as well as similar force books in the past, typically only allowed for one force phrase.
This book allows SIX different sets of force phrases so that YOU decide in advance EXACTLY what phrase the spectator will choose. But remember, they MENTALLY choose a page, and SILENTLY read it- but before they ever open the page, you will KNOW what they are thinking. This can be used as a prediction OR a mind reading effect.
Effect Two: Peek A Thought!
You hold the book up, above eye level of a spectator, and open it to various places, allowing them to PEEK at the first word or words on the bottom line of the page they are looking at. There are about 400 pages in the book, which means the spectator has a 100% FREE choice of over 200 words that they might look at.
You ask them to peek at a few pages and verify each one is different. Then you ask them to peek at a page with the intent of sending a thought to you. The spectator silently reads the word or words that start the last sentence on that page. You invite them to sit down, taking the book with them, and you attempt to divine the word they are thinking of.
This effect is repeatable as often as you care to, with a different outcome each time.
Again, both of these methods have been used before in years gone by, but never have they been combined in a single book. Also, the phrase force used has never been incorporated in such a way as to allow for 6 different outcomes which YOU control. This solves the problem of what to do if there is a good chance some of the same spectators may see your show twice in near succession. It also allows you to have two spectators choose DIFFERENT phrases and reveal them in different ways in a single routine.
The peek revelation, can lead in to the force presentation and/or should the spectator select one of the force pages coincidentally, you can then lead directly in to the phrase revelation effect without having to force a page.

The 400 page, soft-cover book bears a bar code, legitimate ISBN number and looks like it was purchased at any book store. The book will withstand average inspection and is a relatively readable novel.
Yes, there are some typesetting and syntactic oddities about it that one MIGHT discover with great scrutiny, and if one is looking for them- but they are not the sort of thing a spectator would discover with normal handling.
