SQUELETON MENTAL ENERGY TRANSMITTER (SILVER)
This is a great Mentalism effect by Karl Bravosky that will absolutely stun your audiences! ... combining both a card prediction and time prediction with this magnificent and elegant pocket watch!
The Magician asks a spectator to think of a time of day (or night) that holds special significance for that person. Perhaps their time of birth, the time a particular train departed, or any other time that is important to them personally. Once the spectator has their time, the Magician asks them to focus and concentrate on their time. They are given a marker and pad of paper and are asked to write the time down. The spectator is asked to write the time very large so that it can be shown to everyone later, and they are told to not bother with the minutes and just write down the hour of the time.
Next, the spectator is given a deck of cards and asked to shuffle the deck. The spectator is then instructed, while the Magician has his back turned, to remove cards from the top of the deck equal to the number of the chosen hour. For example, if the spectator's time is 10:00, then they should remove 10 cards from the top of the deck. This 10th card is now their card. Let's assume their card is the 3 of Diamonds.
After some more conversation and explanation to the audience that this is not a card trick, the Magician places his right hand on his forehead, apparently concentrating deeply. He then places his left hand in his pocket and pulls out a beautifully ornate pocket watch. He opens up the pocket watch, revealing that the time on the watch reads 10:00 and there is a small 3 of Diamonds card inside the pocket watch!

In this effect by Rick Maue, five audience members are brought forward--one joins the performer at the center of the performing area, and the other four position themselves in the four corners of the stage (where there are four laminated targets to mark the spots). Six small squares of aluminum foil are introduced-wrapped inside each one is either a blue poker chip or a red poker chip.
From the corners, the four audience members each select a foil packet, which are opened to reveal the color of the poker chip chosen by each person. The two remaining packets are also opened to see what two chips have been left behind. At this point, the performer poses a question to everyone about whether they believe that the decisions that they make every day actually affect their lives-or is everything that happens predetermined? In other words, is everything simply in the hands of Fate?
The performer then asks the audience member at the center of the stage to pick up a small stack of cardboard signs that has been sitting facedown on the table. As she displays them, one at a time, each sign details exactly what has just occurred-step-by-step-as if all of the choices made by the four different audience members were indeed predetermined. But after the last sign is revealed, there is still one more surprise revelation that brings the routine to an amazing conclusion.

In this effect by Devin Knight and Al Mann the Mentalist invites two chess players on stage. These are not plants, but random people who understand something about chess. He tells the audience that, before the show, he gave a chess book to an audience member. He had them take the book to the lobby, circle a chess piece on any page, and then note the page they circled. They were then instructed to seal the book in an envelope and keep it in their possession. They were further instructed to TELL NOBODY, including the performer, which piece they circled.
The performer then calls for the sealed package. The package is then placed on a table in full view of the audience. The table also contains a fully set-up chess set. The Mentalist then asks that the first spectator go over and stand in front of the chess set blocking it from view. He is given an unprepared paper bag and asked to SECRETLY drop any chess piece in the bag. He is cautioned NOT TO LET THE AUDIENCE or the other spectator on stage, see the piece he chose. He remains standing in front of the chessboard, blocking its view from the audience.
The performer then opens the package and has Spectator Two remove the book. The performer does not touch the book once it is removed from the package. There is a note in the package (or stuck to the book) that tells the page number of the circled piece. Spectator Two opens to that page number and shows the audience the circled piece, say, BLACK ROOK. The spectator is then asked to riffle through the book and make sure there are no other marks in the book. No other marks are seen anywhere in the book.
The Mentalist says, "The chess piece circled in the book, before the show, is the BLACK ROOK. Wouldn't it be incredible if the piece the person secretly put in the bag is also a BLACK ROOK?"
Spectator One removes the chess piece from his bag; it is shown to be a BLACK ROOK! A totally amazing coincidence that appears impossible
