TELEPATHY CARDS
Telepathy Cards are based on an old, diabolical and greatly underused principle. The idea is credited to Tan Hock Chuan, who published a routine and the method in 1938. Bob Fillman released a version some years later.
The basic effect is this: A number of ordinary cards are shown, along with a matching number of envelopes. Everything can be minutely examined by all. The cards are placed in the envelopes so they stick out about an inch. The performer instructs a spectator to select any card she chooses, take it out, turn it over and place it all the way back into its envelope. She is told not to touch the other cards, but instead, simply to pick up each envelope and gently squeeze the sides so the card drops down into the envelope. Once all the cards are all the way in their envelopes, the envelopes are stacked and shuffled by the spectator, so even she doesn't know which one contains her card. All of the above actions take place while the performer's back is turned. Facing the spectators, the performer takes the stack of envelopes and deals them into a row on the table.
The climax can be presented a number of ways: Explain that you have developed the ability to sense people's psychic energy. Move your open hand over the cards, about an inch or two above them, getting a "reading" from the cards. Then slowly slide the correct envelope out and ask the spectator to name her card. Remove the card to show you were correct! After you replace the card, it is set to repeat the effect. Another way to present the climax is to have the spectator locate the envelope using the "magician's choice" or a gimmicked die or other force item. You can also use the counting force, like with Hot Rod type paddle tricks. No matter which position the correct envelope is in, you can count or spell to it when six envelopes are used. Awesome effect!
There are three different card sets that you can purchase to fit your needs:

This consists of 7 different colored cards, same color on both sides, each card the same size, plus a number of blank white cards, for creating your own effects.
The blank cards can be used to personalize an effect: A business or product promotion, a Gospel routine, spirit or séance magic, or Tan Hock Chan's signature effect. Examples: Show six white cards, commenting on them being the exact same size, weight, thickness, etc. The cards, as well as the envelopes, are ordinary in every way. A spectator writes the name of the product or business you are promoting, then turns the card over and stacks the cards. You or the spectator put the cards in the envelopes. The spectator mixes the envelopes, and then the performer deals them in a row. The spectator is asked to name a number from one to six. No matter what number is called, you can count or spell to the selected envelope. Several routine suggestions are included in the instructions.

This set consists of 5 cards that have the standard ESP symbols printed on them. The routine is pretty straightforward. Show the five symbol cards and envelopes, allowing spectators to examine, if desired. A spectator selects one and turns it over. The spectator mixes the envelopes. You determine the correct one by dealing them in a row on the table, counting them in your hands, or holding them one by one to your forehead. You then, amazingly, reveal the correct envelope.

This set consists of three cards, each with a walnut shell printed on one side. One of the cards has a pea printed on its face. When the cards are placed in their envelopes, you can easily detect the envelope that contains the card with the pea. This is a great "bar bet" item because you can repeat the effect endlessly, and no matter how closely spectators watch you, they can't discover what you are doing. Using different methods for discerning the correct envelope deepens the mystery. A patter suggestion is to state that you used to run a "Three Shell Game". One day you lost your shells, so you had some printed on paper. You got so good with these new shells that you began putting them in envelopes so there was no way the shells could be manipulated..." Then proceed to reveal the card with the pea.
