MENTALISM
The performer displays four rods with different numbers on all sides. Each log measures about 2" long and is made from anodized aluminum. The spectator is invited to toss the rods and assemble them, totaling the numbers on a calculator. The performer calls off the total of the numbers even before the spectator has managed to enter a single number on the calculator.
This can be repeated as often as you like with a different result, because mathematically there are 6144 totals possible with the same rods. In fact the effect can also be performed with 1, 2, 3 or 4 of the rods, and there are literally several thousands of different totals. The basic effect conveyed by the performer is of a human computer that can add totals faster than any calculator. With this improved version, of the Mental Logs, you can also perform this as a feat of clairvoyance. You do this by predicting the totals even before the numbers to be totaled are seen by you or the spectator.

Through the years, magicians have performed many interesting mysteries with their eyes blindfolded. Their eyes have been covered with various articles including bread, dough, coins, wads of cotton, powder puffs, folded paper, sheets of metal, adhesive tape and a variety of cloth blindfolds. But they have still been able to recognize writing, objects at a distance, and even navigate their way about.
You can use the mask and bag supplied for performing almost anything you
could do with your eyes open. For stage performances identifying writing on a
board, or transforming random chalk marks on a blackboard can make for an
impressive demonstration.
A Blindfold Drive in which the magician is blindfolded by a committee and drives
a bicycle, motorcycle, or automobile around town is an excellent publicity
stunt. Properly presented it can make front page news with the picture of the
magician.

The performer display five window envelopes with five different ESP symbols on the comers of the envelopes, to identify them. Inside each envelope is a card bearing one of the five symbols, and when this card is in the envelope, the symbol is clearly visible through the cut out window in the envelope.
The five cards are removed from the five envelopes, turned face down, and mixed up, so no one can tell which symbol is behind which card. The envelopes are also turned over and mixed. The cards and envelopes are placed in two rows, face down. The five cards are now placed into the five envelopes in any order as dictated by one or more members of the audience. The odds of correctly matching all designs are enormous. Yet when the envelopes are turned around, the cards are found to have the correctly matched the designs on the envelopes.
Very easy to do and a very colorful ESP effect.

We are showing you the moving thumb trick however there are many other effects that can be done with this versatile prop including...
#1. Many items are on the table, such as tambourine, a bell, cups, a pitcher of water and a glass, etc. You can ring the bell, shake the tambourine or toss a bugle from the table into the air. You can create a séance in full light. You can pour a glass of water or wine, etc.
#2. Bob Swadling of England uses this to change costumes. The back of the cloth holds a small cloth bag in which are several props. Hold the cloth in front of your body. Lift it up so that it covers your face. Under cover, your other hand puts on a pair of glasses or a hat. Lower the cloth to show the change. Lift again for mustache or hat etc.
#3. Ventriloquists can use this with a puppet hanging behind the cloth. The free hand enters the puppet body and it can come up to speak or move while the cloth is-still apparently held by the ventriloquist. (See Ventriloquism: Magic With Your Voice, Schindler for detailed workings.
You can paint the false hand with white latex paint so that it resembles a gloved hand. You can then wear a pair of white gloves and have no fear about the color of the false hand matching your own hand.
