CLOWN SILK SET WITH IDEAS by DUANE LAFLIN

You receive two beautiful 18 inch pure silks from Italy with the following routines...
ROUTINE #1: Start with the colorless clown. Show him to the audience and say, "This is how I want my program to be. Dull and without excitement. I don't want anything colorful or beautiful to happen". (This should get a laugh because it is an unexpected thing to say).
Notice your mistake and say, "I must apologize, I have the wrong picture. Something must be done about this, something magical!". Place the colorless clown silk in a changing device. (The 18" clown silks will fit into a dye tube or Palmo so you can make the change in your hand. The 24" and 36" size clown silks will easily fit into a change bag or even a small dove pan).
Once the colorless clown is in the changing device, ask the audience to share their smiles. Tell them there is magic in their smiles.
Open up the changing device and show that now the clown is colorful. The colorless clown is gone. Tell the audience that the program actually is going to be fun, exciting, and filled with many amazing things. Thank the audience for sharing the magic of their smiles!
ROUTINE #2: Setup: Load the colorless clown in the bottom of a change
bag. Also put in several solid color silks, then switch the bag so it appears to
be empty.
Performance: Show the colorful clown. Say that his name is "Happy The
Clown". Say that the change bag is his circus tent and he is going inside
to practice some tricks. Put the happy clown into the bag.
When he is in the bag, announce that he can hear through the sides of his circus tent, and he hears some children being unkind. They are angry and fighting with one-another. What does this do to happy the clown?
It takes his happiness away. Lift the solid color silks out of the bag to illustrate happiness being taken away. Finally bring out the colorless clown and show the bag empty. What a sad thing! Happy has lost his happiness. What can be done about this? Put the colorless clown back into the bag. Ask the children in your audience to promise to be kind to one another. Ask them to say encouraging things to one another.
Switch the bag over and bring out he colorful clown. He is happy again because of the good attitudes the children have!
ROUTINE #3: Use a change bag or two dye tubes for this. Load one dye tube with a white silk. Load the other tube with the colorless clown.
Show the colorful clown and announce that you are about to attempt a very difficult trick ...you will make a clown disappear. With a dye tube, switch the colorful clown to the black and white one.
Notice the outline of the clown is still there. Put the colorless clown silk down over the other dye tube while you comment that the trick didn't quite work. You didn't make the clown completely disappear.
Offer to do the trick again. Pick up the colorless clown silk and secretly get the other dye tube at the same time. With this dye tube, change the colorless clown silk to a blank white silk. The clown is gone!
A good finish to this routine would be to make the white silk disappear too.
You could do all of this with a repeat change bag or by using several different
utility props during the routine.
ROUTINE #4: Announce to the audience that you are about to make a picture of a clown appear. Show your change bag (or other magical device) empty. Ask them to say the magic words and the clown will appear.
After the audience says the magic words, produce the colorless clown. Tell them that they did well, but it can be better.
Put the colorless clown into the change bag and have them try again. This time, when you bring a silk out of the bag, produce the colorful clown.
Show that the change bag is empty ...a beautiful clown has magically appeared. Applause is in order because the audience did very well! This would be a good way to start a children's program.

NESTING WANDS BEST - BLACK AND WHITE

Why is this model the best? The other models on the market have two drawbacks. In the plastic version the wands keep getting smaller until the last rod is only about 1/4" in diameter. Other models use glitter tape for the ends that has a tendency to wear out. This model has plastic fused onto plastic.
The Magician calls a spectator out of the audience to assist with a trick. The Magician explains that before they begin, they spectator must have a magic wand to use. The Magician hands the spectator a foot long black magic wand, and when he pulls away, there are now two wands, one in the spectator's hand and one still in the Magician's hand. The wand has multiplied! The Magician now hands the spectator the second wand, and when he pulls away, another wand has appeared!
The Magician, getting a bit flustered at this point, moves one of the wands from the spectator's hand to underneath the spectator's arm. The Magician hands off the third wand into the spectator's free hand, to again reveal that a fourth wand has now appeared. The Magician again frees the spectator's hand by placing one of the wands underneath the spectator's other arm. Once again the Magicians hands the spectator the wand, to once again multiply into a fifth wand! With no room left on the spectator, the Magician places the fifth wand under the spectator's chin. The Magician exclaims in exhausted satisfaction, "Now, we are ready to begin our trick!"
