TUBBY THE CLOWN by IRV COOK

tubby.jpg (14829 bytes)

With this effect we have taken the best of a few different effects and put them together into one DYNAMITE children's magic trick. This is a perfect trick to do at a birthday party or on the stage at a school show. The prop is over eleven inches high and nine inches in width. It is beautifully silk-screened in five colors.

You talk to your audience about TUBBY THE CLOWN as you introduce him by removing him from the circus tent where he works. You tell the kids that TUBBY is all excited because there is going to be a circus parade. You point out that he is dressed in his snazzy red and yellow polka dotted outfit. You tell the kids that he has his umbrella because it started to rain and by the time the parade started he got all wet.

"Have no fear!" TUBBY tells you, "I am a quick-change artist! I will just run into my tent and change into my blue outfit." TUBBY is placed into his tent for a moment and when he is removed he has his beautiful blue outfit on. Well, at this time the kids begin to yell that you only turned TUBBY around. Insist that Tubby is really a quick-change artist as well as a clown and place him back into the tent (as our turn it around) and remove him in his red outfit again. This is done a few times until the audience is worked up into a frenzy.

The tent is shown empty to prove that you are not using two TUBBYS. As the kids yell, "TURN HIM AROUND", you turn him upside down. They will shout" NO! NO! THE OTHER WAY!" You turn him sideways. Of course as in all "SUCKER" tricks you eventually 'come clean'. You actually show TUBBY'S other side which is actually what belongs on anyone's other side, his 'OTHER SIDE'. TUBBY is standing back towards the audience in his snazzy red and yellow polka dot suit.

This is a wonderful NEW EFFECT where you only have to carry one piece of apparatus, unlike Hippity Hop Rabbits where two tubes are used. Turn around tricks are ALWAYS great laugh getters and the kids really delight in seeing them.

BUNNY-NAUTS by IRV COOK

bunnunaught.jpg (20209 bytes)

You've heard of cosmonauts, and astronauts, but have you ever heard of BUNNY-NAUTS? That's right I said BUNNY-NAUTS. At this point two rocket ships are introduced to your audience. You tell a story that before the Russians were sending cosmonauts, and the Americans were sending astronauts, into outer space, we magicians were sending BUNNY-NAUTS.

Both rocket ships are opened to show their passenger, which is a cute BUNNY-NAUT, that's a bunny dressed in a space suit, a black one and a white one. The children are told that both bunnies are going to be sent into space. Both bunnies are put back into the space ships, and you and the kids count backwards from ten just like they do at Cape Kennedy, in Florida.

But wait you've said "BLAST-OFF" and the bunnies haven't been launched into space. They have changed places instead. The black bunny is in the white rocket ship and the white bunny is in the black rocket ship. This switch can be made as many times as you wish, however the audience will be howling that all you did was turn the bunnies around.

The white bunny is picked up and turned upside down as you say, "All right I'll turn him around!" All the 'turn around' gags are done when finally you say to your audience, "This bunny really didn't go to space." "He chickened out and turned YELLOW." As you say this you turn the BUNNY-NAUT around to show that he is indeed yellow. The other BUNNY-NAUT is also turned around. While doing this you tell the kids, "This BUNNY-NAUT went into space but his face turned RED from embarrassment because he forgot his underwear." Of course when the BUNNY-NAUT is turned around he is a bright RED.

This effect is made from the finest birch woods and tempered hardwood for durability. All the rockets and BUNNY-NAUTS are beautifully silk-screened. Both rockets stand 12 inches high and will be seen by all in the audience. We are very proud to introduce this 'NEW' children's effect.

TRAFFIC LIGHT OF CALCUTTA

If you are a performer that likes "pack flat props" which occupy negligible space in your bag of tricks, and provide several minutes of entertainment for a large audience, you will find this an excellent item. A Daffy Dots clone, with six changes, and a new method that uses no flaps, switches, or duplicate boards.

The bare bones of the effect are as follows. The performer displays a board depicting a "traffic light" with four spots on it. The top "light" is green in color, and the other three red. The picture is passed behind the performer's back, and the green light is now second from top. Passed behind the back once again, it is third from top, and finally it is at the bottom. The audience is not impressed, as most of them have figured out "how it is done".

They ask you to show the other side of the board. You hesitate, then do this, and there are now four different colored spots on the opposite side. Then you turn it around once again, and there is a whole variety of multi-color "spots" (rings, polka dots, etc.) on the opposite side.

The entertainment is in the patter theme as you make the changes, (which is outlined in the instructions for the city of Calcutta, but you could easily adapt to any city or town with chaotic traffic conditions.

SATURN SPHERE

This tops the list. You are supplied with a tall, clear plastic tube, handsomely built with a solid base. A beautiful tube cover for same, several different colored balls, about 3" in diameter, and a large laminated box with swinging doors at its front and rear.

There is just room enough for these balls, one on top of the other, to fit the plastic tube, however, the ball placed on top of the three, sequentially appears at the bottom and then in the center of the three balls. For a finale, this traveling ball is placed in the box and is vanished. Both doors are opened and you see completely through the box. The ball that has vanished from the box, instantly appears in the plastic tube. This is very vibrant, extremely well made, has charm and is well recommended. This trick has a five minute learning time as it requires no sleight of hand.

WHAT'S MY JOB?

Display a picture book of people in different jobs-a doctor, chef, plumber, police officer, welder, fire fighter, artist, farmer, etc. A spectator "freely" selects one picture.

A prediction envelope-in full view the whole time-is now opened. "And here is my prediction, the fire fighter-when he was just a baby!" The performer removes a picture of an infant in a baby bonnet! (Groans and laughs from the audience.)

"Well, he knew from the very beginning what he wanted to be when he grew up, and of course, he decided to become...a fire fighter." The picture is turned around, now revealing the spectator's choice!

The very clear and bold drawings make this great even for large audience.
