An orange silk or two are placed inside an empty tube and immediately change into a goldfish or two. The presentation goes like this.
I would like to show you an interesting effect. It's done with an outer tube that fits over an inner tube. There is an inner tube that fits inside the outer tube. Now there is one more tube in this effect - the inner inner tube. This is not the inner tube, this is the inner inner tube. The inner inner tube is inside the inner tube. Now, if there were no inner tube, there would be no inner inner tube, it would simply be the inner tube. Do you follow that? This is the inner inner tube. It's clear so that you can see when I put something inside it.
By using the above patter to the effect, the inventor says that very few people watch what he is doing, because they are too caught up in what he is saying, or in trying to figure out what he has just said. Actually it sounds confusing, but you're working with only three terms: outer, inner, and inner inner. When doing this effect the patter will make sense.
This is the patter written by my good friend Steve Bender of Ickle Pickle. He builds this beautiful water-tight Crystal Silk Cylinder. Producing two live goldfish as a give-away to the birthday child is a wonderful effect, which you will be known for. Reasonably priced, the item is made from spun aluminum, gorgeously finished plastic tubing and stands 10" tall.

Performer displays a board divided into three sections. Each section has a hole through it. The two end sections are in different colors, while the center has a zebra striped pattern, allowing the audience to clearly identify each section.
A silk is passed through the hole in the end red section. The ends of the
silk are knotted together so that the silk cannot be easily slipped in or out of
the hole.
The board is passed behind the performer's back, and the silk has jumped to the
opposite end, now appearing in the hole in the yellow section. This is repeated
again, and the audience soon tells you that you are turning the board around
behind your back. They believe the end sections are differently colored on the
opposite sides of the board.
The performer appears astonished at the suggestion that he is cheating. He passes the board behind his back once again and when it is brought to the front, it is found that the silk is now tied through the hole in the middle of the board. This proves the silk really does jump magically from hole to hole!
