GENERAL MAGIC
A wooden box is shown to the audience. Both the lid and bottom of the box have six holes. One hole lines up with each of six different colored blocks, which are inside. Each of the blocks has a hole though it so that a large wooden needle can be inserted through the blocks securing them in the box. The blocks are dumped onto the table and two colored blocks are freely selected by the audience.
All the blocks are returned to the box and secured by the latch and also the wooden needle. On command the box is opened and the two selected blocks penetrate the wooden needle and fall to the table.
There are many different versions of this trick on the market. The one from Europe has become over priced and very hard to get. This box is made entirely here in America. It is made from an oak veneer and looks as good as a precious jewelry box. The box measures 6 1/2" x 3" x 2" high and has brass hinges and a brass latch which are secured by screws. A $10.00 or $100.00 bill is put in the treasure box (it can be replaced with any other valuable item such as a ring or gold coin, etc.). The magician gives the treasure box to a spectator and asks him to try to remove the precious item from the box. After failing to open the treasure box and having made every effort to do so, the spectator gives the box back to the magician, who only after a few seconds, opens the box and removes the item and shows it to the audience.
The trick can also be done in a comical way by asking a spectator to give him a dollar, which he places in the box. He hands the box to the spectator, telling him that he has three minutes to get the dollar out without breaking the box. It is explained that if this can't be done in three minutes the dollar goes to a designated child in the audience or the magi himself if you think you can get away with that.

The performer relates to the audience a fable about Mother Earth, the four seasons (Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall) and how each of them wished to be crowned "The King Of All seasons."
Each season is represented by a large, vibrant silk foulard (green-spring, yellow-summer, orange-autumn, white-winter) with a large knot tied in the centre of each silk symbolizing the head upon which the crown should be placed.
Mother Earth devises a test for each season, and while describing the test, each of the silks (still containing a large knot in each of their centers) is tied to each other, end to end (green to yellow, yellow to orange, orange to white, and white to green), thereby forming a large "circle of seasons".
The seasons soon realize that they cannot pass the test! As Mother Earth explains their individual importance in the circle of the seasons, the magician passes a hand over the knots tied in the centre of each silk, and they visibly melt away!
The tale concludes with Mother Earth warning the seasons that for harmony and peace to exist, they must work together, and not separately. As this is said, the four silks (still tied in a circle) are gathered in the hands. As the hands are slowly separated, the silks are now seen to be untied and are four separate foulards once again!
