John Cornelius invented the original Pen thru Anything in 1993. It used a black designer type pen that visually penetrated a borrowed bill. It sold like hot cakes. The effect is a classic. Borrow a bill from a spectator. Take your pen and push the point right through the center of the bill. They actually hear the bill being punctured! Now, rip the pen away from the bill. They actually hear the bill tearing. The bill is now slowly and fairly restored and handed back to the spectator. It looks so amazing!! If you like, the pen can penetrate a borrowed coin! There are no sleights required and everything may be examined.
Three years later, John created the Perfect Pen! It will do everything that the original did, but with many added features. Only one pen is used. The spectator can write with the pen. The pen is refillable. The spectator actually sees the ripped pieces of bill when the pen is pushed through the bill. The pen is precision made, it is a very attractive chrome with gold plating. Nothing is added or taken away in order to achieve the illusion and the pen is totally examinable before and after the effect!

Goshman has another winner with this slick little close-up effect. A red two-inch sponge ball is pushed into your fist. The red ball turns into a large 4-inch sponge ball. You won't believe your eyes when you see this great effect. This is easy to do and requires no great skill, but will make you look like a pro!

(This is the original put out by Emerson & West) Here is a wonderful version of the three Card Monte that has a funny story by Jim Temple that makes sense! Three cards are shown, two with a large red diamond in the middle, one with a blue diamond. Then the magician shows how he was "taken" with these cards. The gambler told him that if he could find the blue diamond card, he would win $1.00.
A blue card apparently moved from top to bottom turns red. But the top one is also shown red, and the middle one is red, too!! So he lost $3.00. He tries to find the red one, and now the blue is on the bottom - and top- and in the middle!! He's out $6.00. He claims the gambler has more than three cards, but they're counted, there are only three, and he loses another $1.00! Playing "double or nothing" he locates one blue and one red card, but looking for the other red he finds only a card marked $14.00 which is what he lost!!

This effect is definitely not for anyone that is squeamish. A single-edge razor blade is shown and as it is drawn across your skin, usually the wrist, blood "seemingly" comes gushing from the wound. There is no preparation to your skin.
As ghoulish as this effect looks it is really quite safe. Comes complete with a supply of stage blood.

In this effect by John Cornelius the magician displays a plastic pen, which is shown to be a solid, working pen. He chats a little about the people who are able to bend spoons and keys just by mental concentration. As he's talking, the performer rubs on the pen and it becomes flexible, bending like rubber. The pen is rubbed once again and becomes solid, and can be handed out to the audience for total examination!
