The magician shows the audience and empty CD sleeve with one side transparent, and three CDs that are silver on both sides.
He places the CDs one after another into the CD sleeve and ties a color ribbon (or silk) through the holes in the middle. The CDs one after another change color to match that of the ribbon. The audience can look at both sides of the CDs! The astounding effect of this trick is added to by having one side of the CD sleeve transparent since this means that there is no way to exchange the CDs.
This effect is very easy to do and brings a modern touch to your performance.

In this routine by James B. George the magician shows a brass ring and an ordinary looking pencil. The magician places the ring on the pencil. The ring then mysteriously rises up the pencil. The pencil is then carefully balanced on the first finger of the left-hand in a horizontal position. The right hand passes over an under the pencil. Then, the right hand touches the opposite end of the pencil and it clings to the magician's finger. The left-hand then slowly passes over and under the impossibly balanced pencil.
The palm of the left-hand is placed on the eraser end of the pencil and the pencil moves from a horizontal to a vertical position. This causes the ring to slide down the pencil and into the magician's hand. The pencil is immediately inverted and placed into the closed fist of the magician's left hand. The pencil slowly starts to move upward until it reaches the top of the magician's hand. The pencil is inverted and it immediately rises again.
The ring is slid up and down the pencil proving there are no connections. Slowly the ring floats out of the magician's hand and mysteriously floats horizontally over to the pencil. The ring climbs up the pencil from the bottom to the top, where it is held by the magician's left-hand. Now the ring is placed on the finger, the pencil is placed on the palm of the left-hand and the right hand is waived over it. The pencil then rises out of the left-hand. Now both hands are simultaneously passed over the pencil, top and bottom. Finally the magician gives the pencil a spin and it flies out about five feet or more from the magician and then flies back. It is caught by the magician. This will blow them away.
