Imagine the best magic, the best magicians, and the best producers all in one place.

Imagine no more...

If you could have one set of magic DVDs, this would be it! This benchmark collection features just about all of magic's most enduring and classic effects and routines. It's a fabulous compendium with many of the top masters in the world of magic teaching their handlings and routines for some of magic's classics. Linking rings, sponge balls, metal bending, cups and balls, thumb tips, Zombie, color-changing knives, and many, many more topics are all gathered in this one terrific DVD reference set. Each volume covers a specific subject and features new, old, and sometimes rare footage by some of the top video producers in magic.

Ever since the Chop Cup was invented by magician Al Wheatley (whose stage name was Chop Chop, which is where the trick derives its unusual name) in the early 1950s, magicians have devised increasingly clever ways to use it. The basic one-cup one-ball approach to the classic Cups and Balls has held the fascination of magicians through the years most probably due to its devious use of a mechanical principle along with sleight of hand to create an intriguing and compelling illusion. On this DVD, you’ll meet some masters of the Chop Cup, each with their own spin on the trick. There are classicists such as John Mendoza, Danny Tong and Steve Dacri who beguile their audiences with basic but still utterly baffling routines. Then we have rather unique approaches to the trick, such as David Regal, who substitutes the ball with – no kidding! – a toy mouse and later, Gary Ouellet, who performs a beautifully choreographed (to music no less!) routine using a Chop Cup and a matching, ungaffed cup. Finally, we have Larry Jennings who created one of the most original (and most performed) Chop Cup routines ever. Finally, Jim Swain presents his own version of the Jennings routine with his own singular imprint.

The Chop Cup has been a signature effect for many of magic’s most successful performers and on this DVD, you’ll find marvelous ready-made routines in addition to scores of ideas and stratagems to add to an existing routine.

The Secrets of COINS ACROSS

Of the various plots that make up the world of coin magic, Coins Across has always held a special place in the heart, and repertoires, of close-up magicians. Audiences always seem to be intrigued by the idea of coins traveling invisibly between the performer’s hands, which accounts for the enormous popularity of this very magical effect.

On this DVD, you'll see ten different takes on the Coins Across effect. The approaches are different but the main thing they all have in common is that there are absolutely no gaffed coins required for any of the versions presented here. You'll see Johnny Thompson perform Dai Vernon's Winged Silver, perhaps the version that started it all. Michael Ammar demonstrates why his Incredible Coins Across is appropriately named as the coins travel into the spectator's hand – and the last one appears visibly in his open hand! You'll find easy-to-do versions such as Alexander de Cova's Chinese Money Mystery and Paul Diamond's Flying Eagles to more technically-demanding versions such as Jay Sankey's Mr. Clean Coins Across, Michael Close's Too Ahead and Ross Bertram's Passing the Buck.

From classic handlings from Michael Skinner and Al Schneider to interpretations with a surprise ending, such as Fernando Keops' offering, there's enough material here to enable you to pass coins back and forth between your hands for a lifetime.

No one knows who invented dice though the oldest known dice were discovered as part of a 5000-year old backgammon set. Dice used as conjuring props is of decidedly more recent vintage with one of the earliest records being Hofzinser who used miss-potted dice to force a number as early as 1842. However, the allure of these simple six-sided cubes have not escaped the attention of magicians in intervening years.

In this unprecedented collection, you’ll find completely different approaches to conjuring with dice. John Mendoza begins by performing and then explaining Senator Crandall’s classic dice stacking routine. Daryl is up next with a Chink-A-Chink routine that requires only four dice and a cup – a wonderfully visual assembly and no fifth die is required! Steve Dacri also offers a dice assembly routine (and if you don’t know how it’s done, it’s a real fooler) while Mark Leveridge’s Wild Dice is an eye-popping combination of the Three-Shell Game and the Cups and Balls. Daryl follows with the classic Sack’s Dice Routine and if you take the time to learn it, you’ll never leave the house without a pair of dice. Finally, everything you always wanted to know about dice stacking is ably demonstrated and taught by James Zachary. In The Art of Dice Stacking, the video companion to his seminal book, Zack Stacks, you’ll learn how to create a stack fourteen dice high, in addition to dice cup final loads, taking the stacks down one die at a time, and lots more.

Dice are intriguing and romantic props that guarantee spectator interest and these routines represent the best dice magic ever created.

FOLDING COIN - COIN IN BOTTLE by MULTIPLE ARTISTS

If you could have one set of magic DVDs, this would be it! This benchmark collection features just about all of magic's most enduring and classic effects and routines. It's a fabulous compendium with many of the top masters in the world of magic teaching their handlings and routines for some of magic's classics. Linking rings, sponge balls, mental bending, cups and balls, thumb tips, Zombie, color-changing knives, and many, many more topics are all gathered in this one terrific DVD reference set. Each volume covers a specific subject and features new, old, and sometimes rare footage by some of the top video producers in magic.

The folding coin was first introduced into the literature of magic by Professor Hoffmann in the late 1800s. Since that time, magicians have been coming up with diverse ways to perform the classic Coin in Bottle, the effect for which the gimmick was first invented, in addition to other novel ways in which this unusually gimmicked coin can be put to use.

In this volume, you'll learn David Roth's take on what has now become a classic of street magic as a piece of a coin is visibly bitten off and then expectorated back into place. You'll then be treated to five different approaches to the Coin in Bottle. First, Johnny Thompson performs and teaches his version, which he refers to as one of his “pet tricks.” Then, one of the world's great bar magicians, Karl Norman, demonstrates his fine touches on the trick. David Roth is up next with an adaptation with a truly bizarre finish and also imparts some important information on the care and handling of folding coins. Then, Michael Ammar teaches his reputation-making versions that features a squeaky-clean way of getting into the trick and, in the stage version, a similarly clean finish. To round out the set, David Roth finishes up with two completely different ways to use the folding coin, first as a way of magically producing coins in the hand and secondly, as a method for performing the classic Coins Through Table so that the coins apparently visibly vanish into the surface of the table.

The folding coin has been around for a long time and there's a good reason for that. If you've never experienced the sheer astonishment of an audience as they watch a coin apparently pass into and out of a solid glass bottle, you're missing out on what Michael Ammar called “one of the five strongest effects you can do with a coin.” And, on this DVD, you'll learn everything you need to know to put a folding coin effect right into your “A” list of material.

The Secrets of MATRIX / COIN ASSEMBLIES

Close-up magicians have known for years that audiences love the classic plot where four coins individually placed under four playing cards magically gather under one of the cards. It could be convincingly argued that Al Schneider began a revolution in coin magic when he synthesized earlier versions of this plot and came up with Matrix, a direct and streamlined handling of the coin assembly that has spawned countless variations.

On this DVD, the very best versions of Matrix have been collected along with several of its earlier ancestors. You’ll begin your journey by learning the effect that started it all by the man who invented it – Al Schneider’s classic Matrix. You’ll also learn various handlings of the basic version from Bill Malone and Michael Ammar. Once mastered, you can move on to some eye-popping Reverse Matrix effects, where the coins actually go back to where they came from, with Aldo Colombini and Dan Fleshman. If you’d like to add a killer finale, check out routines by J.C. Wagner and Harry Allen and to prove that there’s more to Matrix than coins hopping around, there’s Dan Harlan’s presentation with a horror movie theme. There’s also Johnny Thompson’s classic presentation with a handkerchief and Derek Dingle’s version of Ross Bertram’s Coin Assembly. And, to top it all off, there’s historic footage of Ross Bertram also performing and explaining his classic Assembly.

To put it succinctly, this has got to be the best collection of coin assemblies ever . . . well . . . assembled.
