The performer asks a spectator to call out any card. Once done, the performer displays a jumbo playing card. With dramatic flair he turns the card around and there is the spectator's card - because all 52 cards are printed on the face of the card! The performer offers to repeat the effect, only this time he takes out a marking pen and makes a large "X" on one of the miniature cards. The spectator is allowed to think of another card, and when the performer turns the card around, the spectator's thought-of card has been crossed out by the marker! This stool does not look like a prop... it looks like the real thing... a leather-topped, beautifully-made mahogany stool!
In this effect by Derek Rutt you pick up this apparently ordinary wooden stool, and you ask your helper to sit on it while you do something. When you have finished, you ask the helper to stand up, pick up the stool, and "put it over there".
As the helper picks up the stool, the legs fall off with a loud band (bingo device), and a loud clattering noise is heard as everything hits the floor. The helper walks away with just the top in his hands.
This is a really surprising and funny sight. The square holes into which the legs lock are reinforced with metal braces, so there is no chance of them breaking (something which has happened in previous models).
