This is a magician's answer to high-energy costs. Screw in an Atomic Lamp Light Bulb and pull the chain -- the light comes on. Pull the chain again and the light goes off, just as if the light were connected to the wall. However, the light is not plugged in.

At the M.A.E.S. Convention in Pa., I first picked up packets of Tear No Tear Cards. They are a little smaller than a business card. Many different routines can be done with these cards. My favorite routine is to ask the smallest girl or boy in the room to come upon the stage along with the strongest man so that they can have a contest.
A card is produced ripped in half, with half given to the child and the other half given to the man. On the count of three both are asked to rip their half of paper into two more pieces. The child can perform the feat, but no matter how hard the adult tries he cannot rip this piece of paper.
The cards also come printed with funny sayings for clowns or magicians.
