These nested brass boxes are simple and direct, but the effect is astounding. A borrowed coin is marked by a spectator and placed within the folds of a handkerchief, which is held aloft in the spectator's right hand. Next, a gleaming brass box is introduced. This is set on the spectators extended left palm. The magician takes hold of one end of the hank and gives it a tug, which pulls it free of the spectator's grasp revealing that the coin has vanished. Attention is drawn to the brass box, and the spectator is asked to open it. Inside he finds another brass box. This too is opened, only to reveal still another, and finally a fourth.
The Magician goes over the preceding events: the spectator held the coin. The brass boxes were in full view before the coin vanished. Each box had been snapped shut, one inside the other. It would truly be a miracle if the marked coin could be found within the last of the four sealed boxes, but that is just what happens! The spectator opens the fourth box and his mark verified. It is indeed the spectator's marked coin! The entire set may be examined without revealing the slightest clue as to the method. In this effect a spectator is shown a dime and a penny, both of which can be examined. The magician holds both coins in the left hand. The magician closes his hand into a fist and has the spectator name one of the coins. The penny is removed from the closed fist and set on the back of the closed hand by the magician.
The magician than removes a beautiful pen from his pocket and points to the penny and reminds the spectator that the dime is in the closed fist and the penny on the back of the hand. "Watch!" he says and at that instant he taps the penny with the pen and visibly the penny changes to a dime. The dime is pushed off the back of the hand with the pen. The pen is now dropped into the pocket and the hand opened to reveal the penny. This is an amazing double change.
