This is the pocket trick, which Kanter's Magic Company brought out in 1936. A knife changes colors right before the spectator's eyes. It must be a good trick for it is still around today. It is one of the most IMITATED tricks on the market today.

OH NO! by TENYO
Tenyo's Oh No is an amazing magic trick that goes beyond anything else of its kind. You
display a small box containing a pair of scissors. You then place any object through tube
in the center of the box: a silk, a dollar bill or even a finger. Now you cut the object
in half with a scissors.
Hold on to your hats as you lift the tube to show that the finger is really cut in half.
You now replace the tube and remove your finger, the silk or dollar bill to show it is
unharmed! A remarkable trick that is exceptionally easy to do!

A handsome wood vase is opened, and a handkerchief removed from inside. The handkerchief magically transforms into a ball. The ball is placed in your pocket, and re-appears inside the vase. The vase is tapped, and the ball magically penetrates right through the vase. The ball is again placed in your pocket, and again re-appears in the vase. Finally the ball vanishes, and the original silk is found again in the vase.
This is a combination of the classic ball vase, plus the handkerchief pedestal, and the apparatus can be used for many routines along the lines of the one outlined here.

Performer takes a box of magic from his pockets. A match is taken out and lighted by the magi to show the match box is normal. The box is then squeezed into a half size, then a quarter size, then an eight size and then finally vanished.
This is a take off on the "Diminishing Cards" effect and uses specially gimmicked boxes that take much of the sleight of hand out of the effect. As with the Diminishing Cards you will need to use some sleight of hand to make this effect look great.
