CLOSE-UP MAGIC

MADMAGS by ROY CHOWDHURY

The magician shows two metallic bars, which look like ordinary bar magnets. The bars are painted red at one end and black at the other end. The bars behave just like a pair of magnets should. When opposite colored ends are brought together, the bars attract, and when like color ends are brought together, the bars repel each other

The magician makes a magic pass and things go haywire. First the same colored ends attract each other, while the opposite colored ends repel each other. Then all the ends attract each other no matter which colors are put against each other. Finally all the ends repel each other. The magic spell which has been cast is now reversed and the magnets act correctly once again. Nothing is switched! There is no sleight of hand used! These magnets seem to defy the laws of science.

DICE STACKING CUP by JIM “ZEE”

T. A. Waters, in his Encyclopedia of Magic and Magicians, said that dice stacking "looks more like magic than dexterity." This is particularly true when you use a Jim "Zee" Zachary dice stacking cup. If you’re looking to add something to your close-up act that your spectators have  probably never seen before, you needn't look any further. It’s expert dice stacking made easy—the Jim Zee way!

HOT ROD (JUMBO CLEAR)

There are so many different plastic stick tricks on the market, but in our opinion the neatest has always been HOT ROD. A clear plastic rod approximately 5" is shown to have six different colored gems on both sides.

A spectator is asked to select one of the gems. The performer "magically" changes all the other gems to the selected gem. This great trick is sure to dazzle everyone.

BITTEN KEY

This effect is very well known with a coin, and in this amazing and popular effect the performer borrows a coin from a spectator. He then proceeds to bite a chunk out of the coin, chew it up a bit, and then spits it out. As the performer spits, the missing chunk of the coin is visibly restored. This effect is very similar in that the performer bites a piece from the key and visibly restores it!

ELIMINATION

This is a very clever trick by Colombini! The routine is based on an idea by Ken de Courcy. You introduce a cloth bag and four colored balls and you make a prediction. The four balls are in the bag and three spectators reach into the bag and remove a ball each (no force whatsoever). One ball remains and this you show.

When your prediction is displayed, it is seen that you predicted that this color would be left until the last! You can keep this trick in your pocket, yet you can use it on the largest stage to stunning effect. Only one bag used. This is not a changing bag. Complete with balls and bag.
