SPONGE POKER EFFECT by MICHAEL P. LAIR
A red sponge ball is placed in a silver dollar-sized, plastic coin case. When it is heated with a butane lighter and shaken out, it magically transforms into a red poker chip, which can then be given away as a souvenir!
The presentation goes like this, "Magicians are an interesting group of people. We know that our audiences like us to perform with natural-looking objects like coins, ropes, and cards, yet we insist on performing with an item called a Sponge Ball. People don't know what a sponge ball is, unless a magician has performed for them before." A sponge ball is a little ball made of foam like this." (A red sponge ball is shown and bounced back and forth from hand to hand, squeezing it a few times in the process. An empty coin case is brought into play from your pocket). "I have developed a solution to this sponge ball problem. I carry a sponge ball around now in a coin case, so that my audiences will think that something of value is inside."
The sponge ball is placed into the empty coin case and it is sealed. A lighter is introduced. It is first lit and then waved under the coin case a few times. "Audiences put a little HEAT on magicians when we use an item that they don't understand, just as the lighter is doing right now. However, even heat won't solve this problem. Eventually the audience will ask, 'Show us the coin case?' I will have to break down and confess to them that it is just a sponge ball! However, a real magician would open the coin case and shake out something of value, when questioned." The case is opened, and out flips a poker chip! It is tapped against the case, so the audience can see and hear the transition from a sponge ball to a plastic poker chip.
The chip can be handed out as a souvenir at this time. One magician I know uses a printed chip, available from print shops that carry advertising specialties, as his business card. Great new effect that can be carried with you at all times. PRICED RIGHT

This is an extremely amazing visual magic effect. The magician displays a large die in a bowl (a Die Cup)! The special feature the audience notice about the die is that all the spots on it are blank. The die is white, and so are spots on it. The spectators can clearly see the sides and top of the die. The magician shakes the cup, and in an instant, all the spots become colored. The die is now clearly spotted with black spots on all sides.
An incredible illusion performed right under their noses! You are supplied with the special die and bowl (cup), which makes the trick automatic in working. Another great visual effect that occurs right in front the spectator's eyes.

FLOATING MATCH (BICYCLE CARDS)
A
match or toothpick is placed on the back of a card and on command levitates
above the back of the card! Another card is passed under the match showing that
nothing is holding it up. The match then lowers itself back onto the playing
card and is handed out for inspection.

This great paddle effect has a woman on the beach in an evening gown. Magi explains as he shows both sides of the paddle that the lady is not appropriately dressed for the beach. Wit a pass of the hand, the lady is now dressed in a bathing suit. Another pass of the hand and she is swimming in the water.
Paddle is handed out for examination and when the spectator turns it over he sees the back of the lady still in the water. Very cute item.
