A spectator cleanly selects 3 cards from a red deck and places them in to 3 separate pockets of his choice. With no fishing or funny moves the magician/mind reading guru reaches into his top pocket and removes a blue backed prediction card, your spectator removes the red back card, which he freely placed in to his top pocket, and they match! (same card, same pocket).
The magician now removes a card from his right hand pocket, the spectator does the same and they match (same card, same pocket, and remember the magician removes his prediction first so it is in full view). The tension is building as the magician reaches in to his left hand pocket and removes a card, the card is shown, and yes it matches the spectator's card (once again same card, same pocket). Your audience will truly believe that the future is in your control. This is a self-working masterpiece in mental magic.

A selected card reverses itself in the deck, with no moves. It is replaced in the deck and immediately rises to the top, with no moves. It is lost in the deck and the deck is spread on the table. The selection s-l-o-w-1-y emerges from the ribbon-spread deck without any apparent motivation and with NO MOVES! The spectator can remove the card from the spread himself...

This routine combines two classic card magic routines and makes them obtainable to the beginner by eliminating difficult sleight of hand. "Back Off" is a blend of the "All Backs Routine" and "Triumph." Although totally different in methodology from the originals, the effect of "Back Off" is still similar to that of the original routines.
In the effect a deck of cards is shown to be faulty due to there being backs printed on both sides of the cards! A spectator examines one of the cards from the unusable deck and verifies this to be true. However, with a magical gesture, the magician causes all the faces to become printed, making the deck as it should be. He then proceeds to take half the cards face up and half face down and shuffle them together. The deck is spread to show the messy condition of the cards.
With his back turned the magician invites a spectator to remove a card and sign it on the face. This card is then replaced facedown into any point in the deck, which is then squared up before the magician turns hack. A magical gesture is made and the cards are shown to have gone back to their original state of being all backs on both sides, all except for one card which remains with it's face showing. among the backs of the cards. Unbelievably, it is the signed selection! The only card not to be printed with a back on both sides again! The spectator keeps the card as a souvenir of this strange experience with a deck of cards!
The trick can be easily repeated with a different card! Multiple handlings included as well as Tom Lauten's "Tidy Up" routine! This effect can be done in the hands or at the table! The deck is instantly reset!

In 1992 Mark devised the original 'Chaos & Order' triumph routine, based on a self-shuffling deck idea that was shown to him by a Chinese magician when he was living out in Hong Kong. A little while later Michael Weber suggested the actual 'Chaos and Order' patter theme, which was incorporated immediately. For a decade Mark performed the routine to a great effect, in all kinds of working environments. Recently, several possible improvements occurred, including a way to increase the number of selections and make the selection process a lot cleaner. One thing led to another… This new version is a substantial improvement on the original and the assimilation of the "Chaos Machine" into the card case is, we think, the finishing touch.
In the effect two spectators each select a card which they hold onto. The deck is cut in half and placed face-to-face. The deck is temporarily placed in the "Chaos Machine" (otherwise known as the card case). The 'CHAOS' button is pressed... and the deck is immediately removed and spread to show that all 52 cards are now interlaced face-up and face-down, in a truly chaotic state. Both sides of the deck are shown to be in this condition. The spectators' cards are replaced into the chaotic deck, one face up and one facedown. The deck is once again placed into the "Chaos Machine" and this time the 'ORDER' button is pressed. The deck is cleanly tipped out of the case and spread to show that every single card is face-up except for two - the selections.
The effect comes complete with gimmicked Bicycle deck, 'button' stickers and instructions.
