PICTURE THIS by RICHARD SANDERS

picturethis.jpg (13502 bytes)

There is no way Edward Bagshawe could have known, when he published "Out to Lunch" how many variations the effect would spawn based on the same principle. Dozens, perhaps hundreds have been published and marketed using playing cards, business cards, note pads, index cards and who knows how many other compatible items. What distinguishes each of these from their mutual origin is the presentational angle the inventor chooses to take. Sometimes topical (Doug Bennett's "The Lady Vanishes"), sometimes ingenious (Jay Sankey's "Window"), the mechanics of the tricks are always the same. Richard Sanders' approach is no exception - Bagshawe's original, inspired handling remains unchanged. However, this is easily one of the most commercial versions ever released.

The effect goes far beyond the simple card trick in which it is framed - what the audience sees is a frozen moment in time suddenly become unfrozen, then freeze again forever in the wake of a miracle. A card is chosen, and returned to the deck. Then the deck is put aside. The magician says, "To tell you the truth, I've been doing this card trick ever since I was a kid. In fact, I even have a picture of me doing the trick when I was ten years old." The magician introduces a small stack of color photos, on top of which is a picture of a child dressed in full magicians garb with a top hat that is clearly too large for his head. He is holding a fan of cards.

The photo is then initialed on the face by a spectator, right next to the child. "Sir, do you see your card in the, fan of cards on the photo? Fantastic! Because I'm going to give you this photo as a souvenir. But before I do, I'm going to show you something very strange." The signed photo is removed from the stack. "When I was a kid, and when I was holding the cards, I would shake them so that all of them would fall to the floor except for one card, your card. What was your card sir? The five of clubs? Watch this!" He holds the photo back towards the audience, then shakes it. Upon turning it around, all the cards are seen to have fallen to the floor except for one card, which remains in the child's hand. Naturally, it's the selection Included is a stack of 45 photographs depicting a 7 year old boy in his bedroom holding a single jumbo playing card, face towards the audience. The rest of the deck is scattered on the floor around him.

You will note that one third of the photographs depict a 3 of Clubs, one third depict a 4 of Hearts, and the final third depict a 5 Of Clubs. As such, three different outcomes are possible. Other cards and a presentation wallet are also included. Also this effect comes with a beautifully written ten page manuscript which includes full photographs and instructions for all the handling and patter. This trick will become one of your favorite carry around effects. With a rubber stamp or sticker, you can use this as an advertising tool. DON'T MISS IT!

BLIZZARD by DEAN DILL

blizzard.jpg (9193 bytes)

Blizzard (bliz' ard) noun - A very heavy snowstorm with high winds causing a white out effect. We are pleased to present one of the most unbelievable card tricks of all time. This is an effect that has devastated some of the greatest minds in magic including: Dai Vernon, Michael Weber, Mac King, Larry Jennings, Rudy Coby, Don Wayne, Bill Goodwin, Paul Green, Mike Caveney, Paul Harris, and many, many more.

Here is the effect as the spectators see it. The magician asks the spectator to clear his mind of all thoughts in order to make his mind a blank slate. You then request that the spectator bring back only one thought in his mind... the name of one playing card. The spectator has an absolutely free choice... let's say they select the seven of hearts. You ask the spectator to name the card that he has thought of. You advise the spectator that you will not only remove his seven of hearts but the other three sevens as well. You place the deck face down on the table as you request the spectator to take the four of a kind that you have removed and point to the card that they feel is theirs without looking at the faces.

You immediately show that the other three cards are blank. You then turn over the top two cards of the deck, showing that the "jokers" are blank. Then you turn over the next four cards, showing the "aces" to be blank. You then toss out the remaining cards, face up, in a flurry of all blank cards... a virtual blizzard of white face cards. Only one card remains face down... they are asked to turn it over to reveal the one card that they freely named. It is the seven of hearts in our example. The remaining cards lay scattered over the table, creating a blizzard of white blank face cards, of which everything can be freely examined. Your audience will be devastated.

CARD WATCH by DAYTONA MAGIC

Card watches have been around for quite awhile; however, they haven't been very stylish. Our new design is very thin and smart. We offer a totally black, sleek watch with chrome hands. The card that appears is the Ten of Spades. The picture of the card appears in a glitter silver material, which further enhances the weirdness of the effect.

The watch can be set so that the card will not appear. Here's the perfect card effect... A card is selected by a spectator and memorized. The spectator is instructed to gaze into the crystal of your watch. As he does this, a picture of his selected card appears in the watch. Then, it mysteriously fades away and the watch face returns to black.

This is a very spooky effect and is very strong magic. Our watch is guaranteed!

Everything is supplied for you to perform this effect. The spectators are amazed when right before their eyes; a card is heated and magically transforms into their card. You can't miss this one.
