CARD MAGIC
TWISTED SISTERS BY JOHN BANNON
An instant all-time classic! No skill or sleight of hand required! The
performer displays two packets of facedown cards, each packet containing four cards. One
packet is red-backed and the other is blue-backed. The packets are tabled, and a spectator
is allowed to select either the red packet or the blue packet. Whichever packet he selects
is used - there is no Magician's force.
The spectator is asked to imagine that his packet consists of four facedown Queens. Once
this is done, he is to think of any one of the four Queens - Hearts, Clubs, Spades or
Diamonds. Again, this is a totally free choice. A second spectator is now directed to
concentrate on the remaining four-card packet, and like the first spectator is allowed to
think of a different Queen. Now, without touching the cards, the performer claims he has
caused the two selections to transpose (change places). The first spectator names his
card, the performer spreads the packet, and the queen he merely thought of is reversed
face up in the packet! This astounding feat is repeated with the second spectator's Queen!
It's an absolute miracle! BUT IT'S NOT OVER YET!
The performer points out that if each spectator's Queen really traveled across, then the
backs (color) of the selected Queens would have also traveled across. The face-up Queen is
in the red packed turned over - it has a blue back! Now the face-up Queen in the blue
packet is turned over - it has a red back! It's an absolute miracle! BUT IT'S NOT OVER
YET!
The performer points out that it is very interesting that the two spectators selected the
particular two Queens they did... BECAUSE THE REST OF THE CARDS ARE NOT EVEN QUEENS AT
ALL-THEY'RE JOKERS! And you turn them all face up to prove it!
O.K. Let's cut to the chase. How many moves does the routine require? NOT EVEN ONE! No
sleight-of-hand is necessary. Everyone will be fooled. The method is simple and elegant,
the plot is clear and concise, and the effect is as close to real magic as you can get!

Three cards are displayed ... two have a red diamond, one has a blue diamond. Performer says that this is a gambling game. If you can locate the blue diamond you win a dollar, if you're wrong, you lose a dollar. Performer is going to show how he got taken.
He shows blue diamond on top. He turns it face down and places it on the bottom. When he shows the bottom card, it's a red diamond. He shows the top card ... it's red. He shows the middle one ... it, too is red. This means so far that he has lost three dollars because every time he picks the card that he thinks is the blue diamond, he gets the red.
Performer says that he accused the gambler of not even having a blue one. He shows that bottom card is now a blue diamond... so, he's lost another dollar. Then he says that if it's on the bottom, it can't be on the top. Wrong again, because there it is. Then he shows it also in center. So far, he's lost six dollars.
He now says that he thinks the gambler is using more than three cards. He counts them on the table showing just three. Now he's lost seven dollars. Performer says that the gambler should give him a chance to get even ... double or nothing. He shows one card has blue diamond, other has red. He says that if he can tell color of third card we will be even. Regardless whether it was red or blue, performer says that he was wrong again and ended up losing $14. As the performer says this he turns over the third card and shows that it reads, "You owe $14."
The entire effect is done with minimal card skill. Included with the effect is a vinyl card wallet.
