PROFESSIONAL MAGIC FOR CHILDREN by DAVID GINN

Over 9000 copies in print!
This is a definitive textbook on the subject of entertaining children with magic, written by David Ginn, who has made his entire living as a kidshow magician for over 33 years. Originally published in 1976, Professional Magic for Children has influenced magicians and clowns around the world for over 25 years. Why? Because this book is based not on theory, but on the author's own performing experience of doing some 400 shows yearly at schools, libraries, churches, and family venues.
In these pages David Ginn discusses his philosophy of doing magic for children, the mechanics of his shows, and his methods of dealing with kidshow audiences. Furthermore, he details over a dozen successful routines, including Instant Art, Mis-Made Flag, Clatter Box, the Snake Can, Arrowhead, Stocks of Zanzibar, Ching Soo Firecracker, Disecto, the Boy to Rabbit Illusion, and Duke's Dye-Version, which David actually performed for a packed house at the 2004 Blackpool England Magician's Convention. Yes, 28 years later, these routines still work and still play to entertain!
A special bonus of Professional Magic for Children is David's detailed discussion of working birthday parties, complete with a description of his two birthday party magic shows. Any magician or clown who enjoys entertaining children with colorful, laugh-filled magic is sure to relish in these pages.

NEW ERA CARD TRICKS by ROTERBERG

This is the masterpiece of Roterberg's publishing efforts. Scholars are pretty sure that the elusive Erdnase must have known and read this book. It is still today an extremely good and important work on cards. It is a book any serious card man should read. This is to a large part the foundation on which a lot of the later card work has been built. Richard Hatch wrote a wonderful introduction that by itself is worth reading. He states...
"August Roterberg is chiefly remembered today as a pioneering early twentieth century American magic dealer and as the author of the books featured here in digital form. Magic collectors seek out his palming coins, catalogs, apparatus, ephemera and variant copies of his books. But perhaps Roterberg's more significant legacy is that he inaugurated the modern age of magic publishing, for his books are the first substantial ones on conjuring in English written expressly for magicians. Those conjuring books that preceded Roterberg were either exposures rather than teaching texts or were - like the excellent works by Robert-Houdin, Hoffmann and Sachs - issued by mainstream publishers targeting a general (and often juvenile) audience. Roterberg's books were published by a magic dealer specifically for sale in magical depots, rather than for wide distribution to the general public. When one considers that most serious magic books today are issued by specialty publishers to be distributed primarily through magic dealers, one recognizes in Roterberg the source of this publishing model in the English speaking marketplace...."

TRANSFORMATIONS (CREATING MAGIC OUT OF TRICKS) by LARRY HASS

In Transformations: Creating Magic Out of Tricks, Lawrence Hass uncovers some of the higher secrets for creating strong, entertaining performances of magic.
Drawing on over fifteen years of experience as a performer and as an award-winning teacher of college courses on magic performance, Dr. Hass shows that being an excellent magician does not reside in knowing lots of “tricks,” but rather in the thoughtful application of psychological and theatrical principles that transform our best tricks into experiences of magic.
As world-famous magician Eugene Burger has said: “This is a wonderful book written by a very talented performer. It is full of secrets. . .that will make you a better, more engaging magician.”
Along with seven clear, engaging essays on magic performance and eleven fully-realized performance pieces from Larry’s repertoire, Transformations also includes a previously unpublished routine by Eugene Burger and forewords by Jeff McBride and Marc DeSouza.
“This is a wonderful book written by a very talented performer and master teacher. It is full of secrets: great tricks and thoughtful scripts, and also the subtle strategies of presentation and psychology that will make you a better, more engaging magician. Prepare yourself: you and your magic are likely to be transformed." — Eugene Burger
“In the following pages, not only will you gain a deeper insight into the history and mystery of Larry’s search for magic, you will also learn secrets for transforming your own performances.” — Jeff McBride
“Dr. Hass has a revolutionary approach to performing, teaching, and learning magic. He focuses. . .on making magic meaningful. . . . I have seen him perform many of these routines for several different audiences. They never fail to elicit a tremendous response.” — Marc DeSouza
